Crowdsourcing Urban Air Temperature Data for Estimating Urban Heat Island and Building Heating/Cooling Load in London

چکیده

Urban heat island (UHI) effects significantly impact building energy. Traditional UHI investigation methods are often incapable of providing the high spatial density observations required to distinguish small-scale temperature differences in UHI. Crowdsourcing offers a solution. Building cooling/heating load 2018 has been estimated London, UK, using crowdsourced data from over 1300 Netatmo personal weather stations. The local climate zone (LCZ) scheme was used classify different urban environments London (UK). Inter-LCZ found be generally consistent with LCZ definitions. Analysis cooling degree hours July shows 2 (the densest London) had highest demand, total 1550 hours. suburban related LCZs 5 and 6 rural B D all about 80% demand 2. In December, A, greatest heating recording around 5750 2, 91%, 86% 95% D, respectively. This study highlighted both advantages issues for energy research.

Urban Heat Island in Boston – an Evaluation of Urban Air- Temperature Models for Predicting Building Energy Use

The Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect is a welldocumented phenomenon, in which the airtemperature in an urban area is elevated relative to the regional air-temperature. This paper evaluates two recently developed methods for generating urban weather files from a rural station that account for microclimatic impacts on dry-bulb temperature and relative humidity. The two methods examined are computat...

Urban weather data and building models for the inclusion of the urban heat island effect in building performance simulation

This data article presents files supporting calculation for urban heat island (UHI) inclusion in building performance simulation (BPS). Methodology is used in the research article "From urban climate to energy consumption. Enhancing building performance simulation by including the urban heat island effect" (Palme et al., 2017) [1]. In this research, a Geographical Information System (GIS) study...

We are all familiar with the fact that cities are generally warmer than the surrounding, more rural areas. We see it referenced most nights in our television weather reports. It is especially significant on nights with clear skies and light winds which favor radiational cooling. This is most significant in the rural areas but in the city, the excess heat absorbed during the day and the local he...
